Modern Vines, E.B. Carroll
This song tells the story of the facets and issues of smaall towns of the South. It specifically references the significance of Baptist belief and obsession with football that these towns often have. In one of these towns, there was a high school rape case involving a couple students, and here I am lightly questioning why it happened, and pointing out how the rumors flew and detrimentally impacted the girl who came forward. It all happened over social media and the internet, which I am comparing to the old saying "heard it through the grapevine". Therefore, social media is our modern vine.
